Story by Jack Foley
MUSICAL sensation Glee has received the most nominations for a TV show at the forthcoming Golden Globes (2011).
The show has been shortlisted in the category for best TV comedy or musical, where it is joined by 30 Rock, The Big Bang Theory, The Big C, Modern Family and Nurse Jackie.
Matthew Morrison, meanwhile, is up for best actor in a TV comedy or musical, while Lea Michele is in the running for best actress in the same category.
Glee favourite Jane Lynch is also shortlisted in the best supporting actress category for her acid tongued portrayal of cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, while Chris Colfer is also in the running for best supporting actor.
In the best TV drama category, annual awards favourite Mad Men is shortlisted along with Dexter and The Good Wife and two newcomers in Boardwalk Empire and The Walking Dead.
British talent also performed well in the acting categories, with Hugh Laurie once again leading the charge for his performances in House and Hayley Atwell, Dame Judi Dench and Romola Garai all shortlisted in the best actress category for, respectively, Pillars of the Earth, Return to Cranford and Emma.
Kelly Macdonald made the shortlist for best supporting actress in Boardwalk Empire and Idris Elba (Luther) and Ian McShane (Pillars of the Earth) are also in the running for best supporting actor.
The Golden Globes will be handed out at a ceremony in Los Angeles on January 16, 2011.
