THE Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for a fourth season.

The announcement by Hulu comes as the series nears the end of its third season, which has continued to expand the world initially created in Margaret Atwood’s novel.

The season began in the immediate aftermath of June’s (Elisabeth Moss) decision to remain in Gilead after giving her infant daughter to Emily (Alexis Bledel) to take to (presumed) freedom in Canada.

As yet, Hulu has not set a release date for the fourth run. But the series remains a flagship entry on the streamer’s rota. It airs on Channel 4 in the UK.

Since debuting, The Handmaid’s Tale has garnered consistent critical acclaim and has won 11 Emmys for its first two seasons, including for outstanding drama series in 2017. It has been nominated for 11 more awards in individual categories this year.
