EMMY-winning drama The Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed for a third season by Hulu.

The announcement was made by the streamer at its annual upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers on Wednesday, when the company revealed that the season two premiere of the Elisabeth Moss star vehicle had doubled its audience compared with its freshman run.

Like HBO’s Westworld (which has also been picked up for a third season), the renewal for The Handmaid’s Tale comes as no surprise given that the show became the first from a streamer to win best drama at the Emmys. It also took home a Golden Globe and prestigious Peabody Award.

All told, the series based on Margaret Atwood’s best-selling novel of the same name has won more than 30 awards to date.

The Handmaid’s Tale, which airs on Channel 4 in the UK, anchors Hulu’s drama line-up that also includes upcoming Castle Rock, as well as Catch-22 with George Clooney and Kyle Chandler.

It also boasts Beau WIllimon’s Sean Penn space drama The First and Reese Witherspoon’s and Kerry Washington’s Little Fires Everywhere among its forthcoming dramas.
