Toni Collette, Merritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever to star in Netflix's An Unbelievable Story of Rape

TONI Collette, Merritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever are to star in new Netflix limited series An Unbelievable Story of Rape.

The eight-episode limited series is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning article by The Marshall Project and ProPublica. It tells the true story of Marie, a teenager who was charged with lying about having been raped, and the two female detectives who kept investigating until they uncovered the truth.

Collette and Wever will play the detectives whose lives become intertwined in their mutual pursuit of a possible serial rapist but Netflix and producers CBS Television Studios are keeping details of Dever’s character under wraps.

Lisa Cholodenko will direct and executive produce the first three episodes.

Collette is currently basking in the critical success of her performance in horror hit Herditary. Her other credits include The Sixth Sense and In Her Shoes.

Wever is a veteran of Nurse Jackie and Netflix’s critically-acclaimed Western Godless, while Dever was most recently seen in Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit.
