ACCLAIMED drama Top Boy has been renewed for a second series by Channel 4.
The Ronan Bennett-scripted drama, starring Ashley Walters and Kierston Wareing, will return for four more episodes.
The drama, which also featured new acting talent, focused on the life of gang members living in Hackney. It proved both a ratings success and a critical darling.
Jay Hunt, Channel 4’s chief creative officer, described the show as “hugely original and passionate, with a brilliant roster of new talent”, while Camilla Campbell, Channel 4’s head of drama praised it for having a “distinct authorial voice”.
She continued: “We were delighted that Top Boy resonated so widely and captured a world behind the headlines in a deeply humane and absorbing way, and look forward to inviting its loyal viewers back next year.”
