True Blood: Gary Cole to join fourth season (and more)

True Blood: Season 3

Story by Jack Foley

GARY Cole and Fiona Shaw will be joining the cast of True Blood during its fourth season.

The latter will play a witch named Marnie, according to members of the cast at a press conference held during the second night of PaleyFest at Beverly Hills’ Saban Theatre on Saturday (March 5, 2011).

Joe Manganiello will also become a series regular, as the werewolf Alcide, as does Kevin Alejandro, who plays Jesus (revealed during the third season to be a witch).

Season 4 will also begin with Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Bill (Stephen Moyer) being officially broken up once again because of the latter’s “betrayal”, while Alexander Skarsgard’s Eric will suffer a complete loss of identity, in a nod to the amnesia storyline featured in the fourth book of Charlaine Harris’ series.

And there may well be room for the return of fan favourite Denis O’Hare, whose Russell Edgington wasn’t killed off completely – just last seen buried in cement. Series creator Alan Ball refused to rule out the possibility.

Although no massive spoilers were leaked during the panel, the sold out event did draw plenty of screams as a total of 16 True Blood cast and crew members took to the panel.

The loudest scream was reserved for Skarsgard, especially when he suggested that his romantic feelings for Sookie may yet be indulged.

Another big laugh, meanwhile, went to Moyer, when he revealed that he got to have his “own f**k puppet” while preparing for the twisted sex scene between his character Bill and Lorena during the third season.

The third season of True Blood is currently airing on the F/X Channel in the UK on Friday nights from 10pm.
