True Blood renewed for sixth season
Story by Jack Foley
HBO vampire drama True Blood has been renewed for a sixth season.
The series, starring Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer, may be shedding viewers at an average of a million year on year but its fifth season continues to rank as Sunday’s highest-rated cable show in the US.
An average of 5.2 million viewers are still tuning in.
However, showrunner Alan Ball, who developed Charlane Harris’ book series for the small screen, will step down from his position next season to be replaced by Mark Hudis (of Nurse Jackie fame).
Ball will stay on as an executive producer while continuing to work on other projects for HBO, including his upcoming drama series Banshee.
