Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer reunite for new BBC sitcom
Story by Jack Foley
THE BBC has commissioned a new sitcom from comedy duo Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, it has been announced.
Entitled House of Fools, the six part series will be set in Mortimer’s grubby flat which he unwillingly shares with Reeves.
It will see the pair receive a steady stream of unwanted visitors, including lady-obsessed lothario Beef (Matt Berry) and Geordie ex-con Bosh (Dan Skinner), while Bob’s sulky son Erik, played by comic Daniel Simonsen, will be hidden away upstairs.
A man-eating neighbour named Julie (Morgana Robinson) will also be lurking next door.
The series will be recorrded with a live studio audience later in the year for broadcast on BBC2 in 2014.
Mortimer and Reeves commented: “We’re back where we belong and over the moon about making a series of House Of Fools for the BBC.”
The BBC added: “Just as they bent the rules of the panel show format, House of Fools does the same to the studio sitcom. It’s half an hour of unadulterated Reeves and Mortimer, uniquely surreal jokes, physical nonsense, daft songs, unimaginable props and impossible situations with a comedy thoroughbred cast.”
Reeves and Mortimer most notably worked for the on hit comedy quiz show Shooting Stars, which was eventually axed in 2011.
