Zoe Saldana for TV's Rosemary's Baby mini-series

Zoe Saldana in Star Trek

Story by Jack Foley

ZOE Saldana is to play the lead role in NBC’s forthcoming mini-series of Rosemary’s Baby.

The Avatar actress, also known for her role in Star Trek Into Darkness, will play the young pregnant wife who becomes convinced she is the target of a satanic cult.

The story, based on Ira Levin’s 1967’s horror novel, has previously been turned into a critically-acclaimed film by Roman Polanski in 1968 and starring Mia Farrow.

Quinn Taylor, of NBC, has described Saldana as “one of our most gifted actresses” adding that she had “the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas” for the role.

The four-part drama will be directed by Oscar-nominated Polish director Agnieszka Holland, who has worked on The Wire and <>The Killing.

Saldana recently completed shooting the lead role in the forthcoming Nina Simone biopic, Nina, which is due out later this year. She can also shortly be seen on UK screens in the Christian Bale drama Out Of The Furnace.
