Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
JENNY Seagrove (as Ann) will lead the cast in the West End premiere of Agatha Christie’s A Daughter’s A Daughter, which runs at Trafalgar Studios for a limited season – from December 14, 2009 to January 9, 2010.
A little known play that started life as a novel, A Daughter’s A Daughter was written under the pseudonym of Mary Westmacott.
Set in 1940s London, the psychological drama focuses on the relationship between Ann, a widow, and her daughter, Sarah, who attempt to influence each other’s lives while living their own.
Roy Marsden directs a cast that also includes Honeysuckle Weeks (Sarah), Tracey Childs, Simon Dutton and Ann Wenn.
Seagrove’s stage credits include The Night of the Iguana, The Secret Rapture, Brief Encounter, The Female Odd Couple, Hurlyburly, The Constant Wife, The Letter and most recently, Absurd Person Singuar. While on television, she has appeared in A Woman of Substance and Judge John Deed (as Jo Mills).
Weeks, who will be making her West End debut in A Daughter’s A Daughter, is best known for her role as Samantha Stewart in television’s long-running World War II drama Foyle’s War. She has, however, been acting professionally since the age of 12 and her screen credits include The Strawberry Tree, The Orchard Walls and The Rag Nymph.
Childs’ theatre credits include lead roles in Miss Julie, Private Lives and High Society; while earlier this year, she starred alongside Matthew Kelly in Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, also at Trafalgar Studios. On television, she has appeared in Born and Bred, Howards’ Way (as Lynne Howard), Sense And Sensibility and The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie.
Othello, starring Lenny Henry, continues in Trafalgar Studio 1 until December 12, 2009.
