A new season of shows for young children at Chickenshed

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

THIS autumn, Chickenshed is presenting a new season of shows for young children and they include:

Tales from the Shed – Every Friday (11.30am) and Saturday (10am and 11.30am) from September 7 to October 27, 2018. Additional Half Term dates: October 23, 24, 25 and 26 at 10am and 11.30am. Suitable for ages 0 – 6 years.

Tales from the Shed are vibrant, interactive theatre shows that are perfect for young children. They are informal, lively and amazingly engaging as the performers and audience share the same space – children are always encouraged to make a lot of noise and to make the story happen.

Every show will be fun, really silly and there will be plenty of colourful puppets and live songs. Every week, Tales from the Shed present different stories featuring the same much loved characters – from Can-Can the beautiful bird to laid back Lion Down and The Thing That Goes Blurgh!

Tickets: £6 (free to babies under 6 months).

Planet Play – Every Friday from September 7 to October 19 at 10am. Suitable for ages 0 – 3 years.

Planet Play is Chickenshed’s new magical world of sensory learning, wonder and exploration for babies and toddlers aged 0 – 3 years. These 45 minute sessions will encourage young children to develop and explore the world around them through song, music, movement and a truly sensory experience.

Devised by Chickenshed’s creative Tales from the Shed team, Planet Play has been specifically developed to encourage play and early communication development in young children. Using songs and rhymes with young children is a fun, engaging way to widen vocabularies and increase listening skills, all of which are brilliant building blocks as children are learning to read, write and communicate.

Planet Play has songs to join in with, puppets who are just waiting to play, dancing and much, much more.

Tickets: £6 (free to babies under 6 months).

Chickenshed’s production of Mr Stink, which completed its run on August 5, 2018, has been nominated Best Production for Young People age 8 +.

And for older children, there will be Jekyll & Hyde (September 25 to October 20) and A Christmas Carol (November 21, 2018 to January 5, 2019).
