A new twist for Desperately Seeking Susan at the Arts Theatre

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

THE Desperately Seeking Susan story is given a new twist in Desperately Seeking the Exit All-Star Reading, which takes place at the Arts Theatre on Thursday, July 26, 2018.

In 2007, American Peter Michael Marino wrote the musical version of the Madonna movie Desperately Seeking Susan featuring the hit songs of Blondie. The mega-musical opened at the Novello Theatre … and closed a month later.

Desperately Seeking the Exit is Marino’s critically acclaimed true story of the making and unmaking of his notorious flop that played everywhere from the USA, to the UK, to Australia.

At this special fifth anniversary one-night-only presentation, the show gets a new twist as Marino’s roller coaster tale is joined by original Desperately Seeking Susan cast member Steve Serlin (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and workshop cast members David Calvitto (12 Angry Men, Americana Absurdum, These Shining Lives) and Neil McDermott (EastEnders, Shrek the Musical, Wind in the Willows).

They in turn are joined by special guests Tim McArthur (Into The Woods, Mountains, Resonance Radio Curtain Up Show), and Amy Cooke-Hodgson (Austentatious, Girlfriends).

Desperately Seeking the Exit All-Star Reading is produced by Kat Portman Smith/KPS Productions.
