A new underground music venue at the Finborough Arms Pub

Theatre news

ON THE weekend beginning Friday, October 23, 2015, the Finborough Arms Pub in Earl’s Court is holding a re-launch to celebrate its new ownership – and its recent rescue from redevelopment – together with the launch of its new underground music venue The Cellar.

The Finborough Arms is an independently owned family business. Free from any brewery or pub company ties, it is able to serve unusual and specialist beers and brews from the UK and around the world. The bar boasts 16 beer taps and over 50 bottled beers of an ever-changing selection.

The newly refurbished downstairs venue, The Cellar, promises to bring the best new bands to West London and reinvigorate the music scene in the area. The bare brick and arched alcoves of The Cellar, illuminated by the orange glow of Edison bulbs, provide an intimate and warm space to drink, relax and take in the sound.

The pub’s immaculate white tiled cellar is visible to all behind a floor to ceiling glass panel wall, allowing customers to peer into the very innards of the pub and letting them know that yes, they are in The Cellar!

Two promotional teams are joining The Cellar. RE:HAB is a collective of music professionals and enthusiasts that believe in music as a therapy from life. They will be running a weekly open mic every Wednesday evening.

It’s All Happening is a zine and promotion team set up due to a shared love of exploring new music, discovering new bands – getting music out there – either through promoting live shows, writing about it or releasing it on their own record label.

On Saturday, October 24, RE:HAB, along with It’s All Happening, will be providing the entertainment, bringing their favourite up and coming acts to this exciting new space.

As well as live music, Scriggler will be hosting a monthly event at The Cellar. An online writing and blogging platform, Scriggler will be delivering an evening of poetry and writing from London’s best and brightest, all passionate about written word and performance.

It wouldn’t be a party without beer, so Clouded Minds, a new exciting brewery now established in Oxford, will take over the taps. Head Brewer Riccardo Pulcinelli will be at hand to answer any and all questions.

The building is already home to the 50 seat Finborough Theatre on its first floor. It is widely considered London’s leading off-West End theatre and will be celebrating the relaunch on Sunday, October 25 with the opening of Vibrant 2015 – A Festival of Finborough Playwrights, its annual explosion of new writing, now in its seventh year.

The Finborough Arms opening hours: Monday to Thursday, 5pm to 11pm; Tuesdays, Noon to 11pm; Friday and Saturday, Noon to midnight; Sunday, Noon to 11pm.
