Almeida Opera 2007

THE Almeida’s 16th annual season of contemporary opera and music theatre, which runs from July 5 to July 22, 2007, will include:

The world premiere of The Silent Twins, a specially commissioned work by Errollyn Wallen and April de Angelis based on the book by Marjorie Wallace.

The UK premiere of distinguished Hungarian composer/conductor Peter Eötvös’s As I Crossed a Bridge of Dreams.

The world premiere of Critical Mass, a new piece created by composer Orlando Gough, directed by Emma Bernard and performed by Streetwise Opera and The Shout.

The season also includes German composer Detlev Glanert’s chamber operas Three Water Plays, a performance of the complete Philip Glass String Cycle by the Smith Quartet, and a focus on the link between music and the Spanish poet and playwright Federico Garcia Lorca.

And for one night only – Monday, July 23, 2007 (8pm) – award-winning singer, performer and writer, Barb Jungr will sing Bob Dylan.
