Baggage - full casting announced
FULL casting has been announced for the world premiere of Baggage, a new play exploring the world of internet dating by John Muirhead and Mike Charlesworth, which runs at the Arts Theatre from September 6 to October 6, 2012.
The cast comprises Charlie De’ath (as James), Richard Mylan (Adam), Suzanne Shaw (Geraldine), Nicola Stapleton (Sandy) and Dan Wilder.
Baggage is the story of close friends, reunited through tragedy hoping to repair their damaged relationship before it’s too late.
Charlie De’ath’s stage credits include The Deafening Silence (Liverpool Playhouse) and The Cage (Edinburgh Festival). As well as a series regular in The Last Detective, Emmerdale and A Touch of Frost, he has appeared on television in Casualty, The Bill, Down to Earth, Trust and Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married. His films include The List, The Glass House, In His Life and Fatherland.
Richard Mylan’s stage credits include Crazy Gary’s Mobile Disco (Paines Plough) and Badfinger (Donmar Warehouse). However, he is best known for screen roles including Oliver in Coupling, Chris in Grown Ups, Danny Flint in Where The Heart Is, Joe in Belonging, Ben Philips in Bad Girls and Dr Simon Hills in Doctors. He has also appeared in the films City Rats, Upside of Anger, Snarl Up and Speak Like A Child.
Suzanne Shaw’s career was launched when she became part of the band Hear’Say in ITV’s Popstars competition. Their debut single was the fastest selling non-charitable record ever in the UK, selling 1.3 million copies. Her stage credits include Chicago (Garrick Theatre), Funny Peculiar and Summer Holiday (National Tour), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (Adelphi Theatre) and The Rocky Horror Show (Comedy Theatre/National Tour).
In 2008, Shaw won Dancing On Ice with her partner Matt Evers and the following year toured in the show’s arena production. During 2010/2011, she played the role of Eve in Emmerdale and is now a regular contributor to ITV1’s Daybreak.
Nicola Stapleton’s previous theatre credits include Cockroach Who, Corner Boys, Essex Girls and Four Star Hotel (Royal Court Theatre), Of Mice And Men (National Tour) and Scissor Happy (Duchess Theatre).
Stapleton is, however, best known for roles in television’s EastEnders (as Mandy), Emmerdale (Danielle), Bad Girls (Janine Nebeski) and A Young Persons Guide To Being A Rockstar (Jo). Her film work includes Hans Solo, Chunky Monkey, Strong Boys, The Killing Zone and Urban Ghost Story.
Dan Wilder’s previous theatre credits include Romeo and Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew and Hamlet (World Tours), The Lad Aladdin, Hobson’s Choice, Sleeping Beauty and Single Spies (York Theatre Royal) and La Fanciulla Del West and Orphee (Royal Opera House). On television, he has appeared in The Dam Busters, The Bomb Plot and The History of Interrogation.
Baggage is directed by Audrey Cooke.
