BATTERSEA Arts Centre is launching The Big Story, a season of work devoted to the art of storytelling, with the world premiere of Return, a one man show by one of Britain’s leading spoken word artists, Polarbear. It runs from March 2 to March 25, 2010.

The season also includes:

Sporadical, an epic folk opera from Little Bulb Theatre that includes arias, sea shanties, ballads, and beat poetry – March 2 to March 20 (Tuesday to Saturday, except Friday, March 5) at 9.30pm.

Tickets: £5, £3 concessions. Suitable for ages 12 and over.

The Poof Downstairs, a circuitous and ambiguous black comedy – March 4 to March 20 (Thursday to Saturday) at 8pm.

When Jeremy moves back into his parents’ home he finds little has changed. He is still dominated by a nagging mother, and bewildered by a distant father who dreams of going fishing. In the conflict that follows Jeremy becomes the focus of his parents’ struggle for supremacy.

My Story – March 5 and 6 at 7pm.

Funny anecdotes, tragic tales, painful separations and joyful reunions – stories told by the people who lived them.

Third Angel – March 5 and 6 at 8.15pm.

A fresh and funny live art performance revealing real stories behind the faces of a school photo from 1976.

Where Are You? – March 9 at 8.45pm.

A special show about where we come from and what we do that has previously visited schools in Norway and Russia as part of BAC’s Schools Programme.

Tickets: £5, £3 concessions.

Lilly through the Dark – March 16 and 17 at 8pm.

An intimate and macabre story inspired by real events using a unique style of puppetry, live music and poetic language.

Tickets: £10, £6 concessions. Suitable for ages 12 and over.

The Raun Tree, an apocalyptic fairy-tale with crunky banjos and haunted songs – March 18 to March 20 at 6.45pm.

If That’s All there Is – March 29 to April 10 (except April 4 and 5) at 7.30pm.

A couple are teetering on the brink of marriage. As the happiest day of their lives approaches, the panic begins to rise. And everybody’s watching. Through the eyes of a jaded therapist and an awkward teenage girl, a surreal and hilarious case study of longing, envy, disappointment and violent urges is revealed.

The award-winning Inspector Sands present their award winning sell-out hit from the Edinburgh Fringe 2009, inspired by the Peggy Lee song Is that all there is?

If That’s All There Is is performed by Lucinka Eisler, Giulia Innocenti and Ben Lewis.
