Billy Elliot - two new Billys join cast

NEXT month, Billy Elliot The Musical will have two new Billys – 12 year-old Tom Holland from Kingston-upon-Thames (from September 8, 2008) and 13 year-old Tanner Pflueger from Norfolk, Nebraska, USA (from September 29, 2008).

They will be joining current Billy Elliots Joshua Fedrick (aged 13, from Saltash, Cornwall), Fox Jackson-Keen (also aged 13, from Hornsey, London) and Layton Williams (aged 14, from Manchester) who perform alongside principal cast members Jackie Clune (Mrs Wilkinson), Phil Whitchurch (Dad), Chris Lennon (Tony), Ann Emery (Grandma), Trevor Fox (George), Alex Delamere (Mr Braithwaite), Sara Poyzer (Mum) and Barnaby Meredith (Older Billy).

Billy Elliot The Musical has recently celebrated three years and over 1,400 performances in the West End. Since its world premiere at the Victoria Palace Theatre in May 2005, it has been seen by over 2.5 million people worldwide.

The Australian production premiered at The Capitol Theatre in Sydney last year and will end its year long run in November ahead of a transfer to Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne where it opens on December 31, 2008. And on November 13, the musical opens at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway.

Billy Elliot the Musical is set in the North East of England and is described as a funny, heart-warming and feel-good celebration of one young boy’s dreams. The score was composed by Elton John, choreography is by Peter Darling, designs by Ian MacNeil, sound by Paul Arditti and lighting by Rick Fisher.

Billy Elliot the Musical, which is based on the Universal Pictures/Studio Canal film, is presented in London by Universal Pictures Stage Productions, Working Title Films and Old Vic Productions in association with Tiger Aspect.

Billy Elliot The Musical is currently booking until April 11, 2009, at the Victoria Palace Theatre.
