Blondes - Denise Van Outen stars

AMERICAN actor and singer Clarke Peters will direct Denise Van Outen in the one-woman show Blondes, which previews at London’s New End Theatre from July 27 to August 1, 2009, prior to the Edinburgh Festival.
Written by Jackie Clune, Blondes, which is part cabaret, part theatre, part stand-up, pays tribute to blondes – from Mae West and Marilyn Monroe to Dusty Springfield and Duffy.
Peters and Van Outen have previously worked together on the London stage – as Billy Flynn and Roxie Hart in the Kander and Ebb musical Chicago.
As well as Chicago, both in the West End and on Broadway, Van Outen’s stage credits include Tell Me on a Sunday, A Slice of Saturday Night, Les Miserables and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. On television, she has appeared in The Big Breakfast, Who Dares Sings, Any Dream Will Do and I’d Do Anything.
Peters has appeared regularly on stage – in The Iceman Cometh (Broadway) and Porgy and Bess and The Witches of Eastwick (West End). He also received a Tony Award nomination for Best Book of a Musical for the revue Five Guys Named Moe.
His television credits include The Wire (as Detective Lester Freamon), Endgame (Nelson Mandela) and Damages (Dave Pell). He will be seen soon in Holby City playing Derek, the estranged father of Donna Jackson.
Blondes has musical direction by Mike Moran, who provides on-stage piano accompaniment for Van Outen.
