Casting announced for the national tour of Ghost The Musical

FULL casting has been announced for the national tour of Ghost The Musical, which visits New Wimbledon Theatre from April 30 to May 11, 2013.

Leading the cast as Sam Wheat and Molly Jensen are Stewart Clarke and Rebecca Trehearn respectively. They are joined by Wendy Mae Brown as Oda Mae Brown, David Roberts as Carl Bruner, Ivan De Freitas as Willie Lopez, Stevie Hutchinson as the Subway Ghost, Keisha Atwell as Louise and Karlene Wray as Clara.

Completing the company are Maeve Byrne, Michael Cortez, Kimmy Edwards, Jaye Elster, Livvy Evans, Gabriella Garcia, Nick Hayes, Bradley Jaden, Robert Knight, Gregor Stewart, Michael Stewart, Amy Webb, Amy West and Luke Wilson.

Ghost is a timeless fantasy about the power of love. Walking back to their apartment one night, Sam and Molly are mugged. Sam dies and is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next, unable to leave Molly who he learns is in grave danger. With the help of a phony storefront psychic, Oda Mae Brown, Sam tries to communicate with Molly in the hope of saving and protecting her.

Adapted for stage by Academy Award-winning Bruce Joel Rubin, who wrote the screenplay for the original 1990 film starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Tony Goldwyn and Whoopi Goldberg, the new musical version of Ghost will be directed by Matthew Warchus and have music and lyrics by Grammy award-winning Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard.

Stewart Clarke’s theatre credits include Loserville (Garrick Theatre), Sweeney Todd (Rose Theatre), Songs For a New World (Bridewell Theatre) and Parade (Lowry). His screen credits include the feature film Easy Virtue.

Rebecca Trehearn’s stage credits include Alfie the Musical (Palace Theatre, Watford), We Will Rock You (Dominion Theatre), Dirty Dancing (Aldwych Theatre), Aspects Of Love (Menier Chocolate Factory), Love Story (Duchess Theatre), Bernarda Alba (Union Theatre), and Ghost The Musical (Piccadilly Theatre). On screen, she has appeared in Casualty and A470.

Wendy Mae Brown’s theatre work includes Kiss Me Kate (Old Vic/Chichester Festival Theatre), Rent (Prince of Wales Theatre/Prince Edward Theatre/UK tour), To Kill a Mockingbird (Theatre Clwyd/UK tour), Cotton (West Yorkshire Playhouse/UK tour), Hey! Mr Producer (Lyceum Theatre), Little Shop of Horrors (Oldham Coliseum/UK tour), Mamma Mia! (Prince Edward Theatre) and Porgy and Bess (Savoy Theatre).

Her screen credits include Last Chance Harvey, Blackbeard the Pirate, The Roundabout, Hatfields and McCoys and Flight 93.

David Roberts’ stage credits include Mamma Mia! (international tour), Jack and the Beanstalk (Hackney Empire), Aspects of Love (Menier Chocolate Factory), Oliver! (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), Seasonal Sauce (Watermill Theatre) and Gone With The Wind (New London Theatre). He has also appeared in the film adaptation of Les Miserables.

Ivan De Freitas’ stage work includes Dick Whittington and his Cat (Hackney Empire), Ghost the Musical (Piccadilly Theatre), Sister Act (London Palladium), Never Forget (Savoy Theatre), Saturday Night Fever (Apollo Victoria), Children of Eden (Bloomsbury Theatre) and Zorro the Musical, Never Forget, Annie Get Your Gun and The King and I (all on UK tours).

Stevie Hutchinson’s theatre credits include Oliver! (UK tour), Billy Elliot The Musical (Victoria Palace Theatre), Hairspray (Shaftesbury Theatre) and High School Musical (Hammersmith Apollo).

Ghost The Musical has set and costume design by Rob Howell, musical supervision and arrangements by Christopher Nightingale, illusions by Paul Kieve, choreography by Ashley Wallen, video and projection designs by Jon Driscoll, lighting by Hugh Vanstone and sound by Bobby Aitken.
