Chicago - Emma Barton joins cast
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
ON APRIL 26, 2010, Emma Barton will take over the role of Roxie Hart from Ruthie Henshall in Chicago, which is currently booking at the Cambridge Theatre until October 30, 2010.
Barton is no stranger to the role having played Roxie only last year in the touring production of the hit Kander and Ebb musical. And although she has previously appeared in the West End in Grease, she is probably best known as EastEnders‘ Honey Mitchell.
Joining her in the cast of Chicago will be Vivien Carter (as Velma Kelly), Terence Maynard (Billy Flynn) and Adam Stafford (Amos Hart).
Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub singer who dreams of headlining in Vaudeville, but only achieves celebrity status when she murders her lover and enlists the help of Billy Flynn, Chicago’s shrewdest lawyer, to whip up the publicity surrounding the case and ensure her acquittal.
Described as slick, sexy and sassy, Chicago has choreography in the style of the legendary Bob Fosse and a ‘fantastic’ Jazz score, which includes And All That Jazz.
