Chicago extends booking period

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

THE LONG-running musical Chicago has extended its booking period at the Cambridge Theatre by seven months – until February 28, 2009.

Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub singer who dreams of headlining in Vaudeville, but only achieves celebrity status when she murders her lover and enlists the help of Billy Flynn, Chicago’s shrewdest lawyer, to whip up the publicity surrounding the case and ensure her acquittal.

Described as slick, sexy and sassy, Chicago has choreography in the style of the legendary Bob Fosse and a ‘fantastic’ Jazz score, which includes And All That Jazz.

The current cast includes Bonnie Langford as Roxie and Brenda Edwards as Mama Morton (both until February 24, 2008); Duncan James as Billy Flynn (until February 10, 2008); Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly; and Paul Rider as Amos Hart.
