Chickenshed Celebrity Gala

Theatre news

THE 24th Chickenshed Annual Fundraising Gala, hosted by The Lady Jane Rayne Lacey, will be held at The Guildhall on Monday, November 5, 2012 (from 7pm).

Guests from TV, stage and screen will join the evening’s Guests of Honour, Sir Derek Jacobi, to enjoy a lively and exciting night of entertainment including a spectacular cabaret performance from members of Chickenshed.

The evening will begin with a champagne reception followed by a breath-taking performance by members of the award-winning Theatre Company, Chickenshed, who has most recently received huge acclaim with their national tour of Crime of the Century, the explosive theatre production tackling knife crime amongst young people.

Fundraising games organised by Stephen Mangan will follow the sumptuous three course dinner and an auction of ‘money can’t buy’ items conducted by Sotheby’s auctioneer, Lord Harry Dalmeny.

Chickenshed is a theatre company that makes beautiful and inspirational theatre working on the basis that everyone and anyone should be included, regardless of their background, age, race or ability.

Chickenshed run a Children’s and Youth Theatre for 800 young people, operates four nationally accredited education courses, engages in community outreach projects and has established a growing network of satellite ‘Sheds’ across the country and two in Russia.

Their new branch – Chickenshed Kensington and Chelsea – now has a hugely successful Children’s, Youth and adult theatre group and is providing inclusive theatre projects across the Royal Borough.

As a charity, Chickenshed needs to raise over £3.5million each year to fund the different services and programmes offered and only exists because of the passion, enthusiasm, commitment and belief that their supporters have. Many of these supporters will be present at The Guildhall on Monday, November 5.
