Cobra - Lion and Unicorn Theatre
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
THE LION and Unicorn Theatre is presenting the world premiere of Cobra by Charis Agbonlahor – from Monday, October 21 to Saturday, October 26, 2013.
Based on a true story, Cobra gives an intimate insight into the incredible journey of a struggling black actress called Shareen, who, whilst fighting to achieve her dreams, finds herself in an unbelievably dark and sinister predicament.
Cobra is described as an inspirational story of one woman’s fight to overcome the exploitation of her own dreams and anything or anyone who dares to stand in her way.
Written and directed by Charis Agbonlahor, Cobra questions the impact that racial stereotypes within society have on art and whether society is to blame, with art following, or vice versa.
Cobra also makes us question the choices we make, who we can trust, and the way in which black woman are viewed within both art and society.
The cast includes Rose Concencion (as Shareen), Richard De Lisle (Brendan), Vanessa Russle (Becks), Chantelle Scantlebury (Yemi), Samantha Engelbrecht (Samantha), Michael Fatogun (Max) and Katherine Blackshaw (Marie).
Cobra has costume design by Naomi Hodginson, lighting by Makalia Mckenzie and sound by Charis Agbonlahor.
Tickets: £15/£12 – available from the box office on 08444 77 1000 or from Ticketweb.
