Courtyard Theatre - April 2013
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
THE Courtyard Theatre has announced two productions for April 2013.
Charles Dickens’ Ghost Stories by David John Preece – Tuesday, April 2 to Sunday, April 7 (7.30pm).
Beguiled in early childhood by his nursemaid’s grim and ghoulish stories, Charles Dickens harbored all through his life a fascination with ghosts, apparitions and chilling coincidence. The world of the supernatural to which Dickens was introduced became vividly real to him.
Throughout his life, Dickens tried to exorcize these dark thoughts by pouring them into his stories…
June Abbott directs.
The Accrington Pals by Peter Whelan – Tuesday, April 9 to Sunday, April 14 (7.30pm).
The men of a Lancashire mill town leave their homes and loved ones to battle for King and Country in the trenches of the Somme.
This story is inspired by the real ‘pals’ and the effect on the women who waited for their return during the First World War.
Yvonne Morley directs.
Both productions are presented by N1 Theatre Company and feature a cast of brand new, upcoming talent.
