Derren Brown Mind Reader - Garrick Theatre
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
DERREN Brown returns to the West End for the first time in two years with his new show, Derren Brown Mind Reader: An Evening of Wonders, which runs for a strictly limited season at the Garrick Theatre – from Friday, May 2 to Saturday, June 7, 2008.
Brown, one of the country’s most revered live performers and a master of magic, mind control and psychological illusion, has already played to sell-out audiences at over 80 theatres nationwide. Speaking about the new show, he said,
“For this show I wanted to return to more traditional roots of magic entertainment, and in particular the mind-readers of the 1930s. But like my other live shows, it’s full of surprises, and hopefully both entertaining and thought-provoking – and of course they’ll be plenty of audience participation.”
As well as live stage shows, Brown has appeared on television with Control and Trick of the Mind, which garnered rave reviews as well as numerous awards; while his television specials have provoked much debate and further consolidated his reputation as a performer prepared to constantly challenge and break boundaries.
In 2006, his stage show Something Wicked This Way Comes won the Olivier Award in the Best Entertainment category. And his book Tricks of the Mind has remained in the best-selling charts since December 2006.
Derren Brown Mind Reader: An Evening of Wonders is directed by Andy Nyman.
