Fat Pig - Trafalgar Studio 1
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
ROBERT Webb, from the hit comedy duo Mitchell and Webb, will be making his West End debut in the UK premiere of Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig which runs for a limited season – from May 16 to August 30, 2008 – in Trafalgar Studio 1.
When Tom (Webb) first meets Helen (Ella Smith) there is an instant connection, but its not exactly love at first sight. Helen is a bright, funny, sexy young woman but she just happens to be plus-sized and before long insults start to fly from Tom’s shallow yet shockingly funny office buddies, Carter (Kris Marshall) and Jeannie (Joanna Page).
Webb is best known for the TV series Peep Show, The Mitchell and Webb Look and The Mitchell and Webb Situation with, of course, Mitchell. His other credits include Blessed and The Smoking Room (TV); Magicians and Confetti (film).
Marshall’s credits include BBC’s Sold (with Ella Smith), My Family, the films Love Actually and The Merchant of Venice, and the current series of BT adverts. And just last year, he appeared opposite Billie Piper in the West End production of Treats (Garrick Theatre).
And Page’s credits include What the Butler Saw, Aladdin and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (theatre); Gavin and Stacy, Love Soup and Love Actually (screen).
LaBute’s work includes Bash (Trafalgar Studio 2), Helter Skelter/Land Of The Dead (Bush Theatre), Some Girl(s) which starred Friends‘ David Schwimmer (Gielgud Theatre), The Shape Of Things (Ambassadors Theatre), This Is How It Goes (Donmar Warehouse) and The Mercy Seat (Almeida Theatre). LeBute will also direct Fat Pig.
Visiting Mr Green, with Warren Mitchell and Gideon Turner, continues in Trafalgar Studio 1 until May 10, 2008.
