Feeble Minds - Albany Theatre and Rich Mix

Feeble Minds

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

SPARE Tyre is presenting Feeble Minds at Deptford’s Albany Theatre from July 10 to July 17; and at Rich Mix from July 23 to July 25, 2009.

Devised and performed by Spare Tyre’s inc.Theatre Ensemble (artists with a learning disability) and HotPots (artists aged over 60), Feeble Minds tells the story of a world in chaos, intoxicated with greed and lust.

It is inspired by Shakespeare’s Timon of Athens and explores the wisdom and madness of risk taking.

Described as a comical, moving piece, Feeble Minds explores questions of moral values and treads the fine line between sanity and madness. It includes physical theatre and spoken word and features a multi media back drop.

Arti Prashar, Artistic Director of Spare Tyre and director of Feeble Minds said:

“This play will question our responses to insatiable consumerism and spirituality. It is a play for today as we reel from the bankers risk taking and try and find solace in reality TV. To misquote Shakespeare:
To sin or not to sin is a very good question
Whether it’s better to live by our morals
Or take a risk on outrageous fortune”

Spare Tyre provides voiceless communities with an opportunity to share their life stories, create high quality theatre and challenge social prejudice.

NB: Suitable for ages 14 and over.

Tickets: £10, £7 concessions.

Times (Rich Mix): 7.30pm, matinee (July 24) at 2pm.

There will be a post-show discussion at the Albany on July 16 and at Rich Mix on July 23.
