Final casting announced for The Bridges of Madison County

FINAL casting has been announced for the musical version of The Bridges of Madison County, which receives its UK premiere at the Menier Chocolate Factory, running from July 13 to September 14, 2019.

Joining previously announced Jenna Russell as Francesca are Ed Baker-Duly (Robert), Georgia Brown (Chiara/Ginny/State Fair Singer), Maddison Bulleyment (Carolyn), Shanay Holmes (Marian), Gillian Kirkpatrick (Marge), Paul F Monaghan (Charlie), David Perkins (Michael) and Dale Rapley (Bud).

Edward Baker-Duly last appeared at the Chocolate Factory in Rookery Nook. His other theatre credits include The King and I (Broadway/London Palladium), South Pacific (National Theatre), Kiss Me Kate (Sheffield Crucible), Peter and the Starcatcher (Off-Broadway), The Wizard of Oz (London Palladium), Gone With the Wind (New London) and West Side Story (Prince of Wales Theatre).

Shanay Holmes’ theatre credits include Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard (Adelphi Theatre), Jesus Christ Superstar (Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park), Thriller Live (Lyric Theatre), Close to You – Bacharach Re-imagined (Criterion Theatre) and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Kilworth House).

Gillian Kirkpatrick’s theatre credits include Sweeney Todd (Chichester Festival Theatre/Adelphi Theatre), Blood Brothers (Phoenix Theatre), Billy Elliot (Victoria Palace Theatre), Spring Awakening (Hope Mill Theatre), Sunny Afternoon (Harold Pinter Theatre), American Psycho (Almeida Theatre), Into the Woods (Royal Opera House), The Rink (Orange Tree Theatre) and Paradise Moscow and Sweeney Todd (Opera North).

Paul Monaghan has just appeared in Man of La Mancha at the London Coliseum. His other credits include: Cats (London Palladium/UK tour), Les Misérables (Palace Theatre/10th Anniversary Concert), The Phantom of the Opera (Her Majesty’s Theatre), La Cage aux Folles (UK tour) and A Man of No Importance (Arts Theatre).

Dale Rapley’s theatre credits include: Mamma Mia! (Prince Edward Theatre), Richard III and Romeo and Juliet (Shakespeare’s Rose, York), The Addams Family (UK tour), Wicked (UK tour), The Merchant of Venice (Shakespeare’s Globe), Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown (Playhouse Theatre), King John (Rose Theatre, Kingston) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream and High Society (Open Air Theatre, Regent’s Park).

Francesca is an Italian immigrant housewife living a happy existence on a farm in the American Midwest. However, when her family go off to the Iowa State Fair, she meets Robert Kincaid, a National Geographic photographer on assignment filming bridges in the area. Their initial friendship develops into a brief but passionate affair which has devastating consequences on all of their lives.
