Flamenco Flamen'ka - Lyric Theatre

Craig Revel Horwood

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

FLAMENCO Flamen’ka, a dance show written and directed by Craig Revel Horwood, will run for eight weeks at the West End’s Lyric Theatre – from September 18 to November 15, 2008.

Featuring flamenco superstar Karen Ruimy, who also narrates, Flamenco Flamen’ka is the story of a passionate love triangle that ultimately ends in tragedy. As the title suggests it includes flamenco, as well as tango and modern ballet plus a company of 20 dancers.

Although Revel Horwood is probably best known as a Strictly Come Dancing judge, he has choreographed shows all over the world. His West End credits alone include West Side Story, Miss Saigon, Martin Guerre, Hey Mr Producer!, Calamity Jane, Beautiful and Damned, Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks (with Claire Bloom and Billy Zane), Spend, Spend, Spend and My One and Only.

For the latter two, both at the Piccadilly Theatre, he was nominated for Olivier Awards.

Flamenco Flamen’ka has additional choreography by Jerome Couchart, Marjorie Ascione and Manuel Gutierrez Cabello; and music by Bruno Ribero.

The Lyric Theatre is currently dark following the closure of Cabaret on June 21, 2008.
