Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
GAP YEAR, a new musical comedy, will be performed at Leicester Square Theatre on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 7pm and 9pm.
Gap Year tells the story of Tom, an eighteen-year-old student who avoids university by going traveling around Australia, but quickly finds himself totally unsuited to the lifestyle.
Full of the characters and songs Tom meets on his journey, Gap Year is described as a musical ode to the strange and wonderful world of backpacking.
Ferghal Crowley directs a cast that includes Joe Hinds (as Tom) and Bethan McCann (Holly), as well as ensemble members Denise Goff (Candice/Tracey), Glynn Jones (Gideon/The Oracle), Katie Brennan (Madge/Katie/The Hitch-Hike Killer/Eva) and Luke Nicholson (Joshua/Hans/Brad/Barry).
The cast, accompanied by a live band, present an array of songs and characters who appear throughout Tom’s adventure, from Madge – the crazy celebrity-obsessed hostel owner, to Brad – the Australian-surfer-dude diving instructor, and the mysterious traveling “Oracle”.
