Grease extends booking period

THE MUSICAL Grease has extended its booking period at the Piccadilly Theatre by 12 months – until September 3, 2011 – taking it into its fifth year and making it the longest running show in the venue’s history.

Siobhan Dillon (as Sandy), Hear’Say’s Noel Sullivan (Danny) and former Olympic figure skating champion Robin Cousins (Teen Angel) currently lead a cast that also includes Matthew Goodgame, Victoria Hamilton-Barritt, Lucas Rush, Hayley Gallivan, Benjamin Ibbott, Faye Brookes, Bennett Andrews and Robyn Mellor.

Previously Posted: Robin Cousins, the 1980 Olympic figure skating champion, will guest star as Teen Angel in the hit musical Grease, which is currently booking at the Piccadilly Theatre until September 4, 2010.

The Dancing on Ice judge will take over from Heart DJ and former CBBC presenter Toby Anstis on March 29 for a limited season only – until June 19, 2010.

Following his success as a skater, Cousins turned his attention to theatre and appeared as the Prince in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Munkustrap in Cats, and Frank N Furter in The Rocky Horror Show.

He also starred in, produced, directed, and/or choreographed many international TV ice spectaculars such as The Nutcracker: A Fantasy on Ice, Sleeping Beauty on Ice, The Wizard of Oz on Ice, Toy Story on Ice, and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express on Ice.

He is currently in Vancouver commentating for the Winter Olympics.

In Grease he will join Siobhan Dillon (as Sandy) and Hear’Say’s Noel Sullivan (Danny).

Billed as the original High-School musical, Grease has book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey and songs that include Look at Me I’m Sandra Dee, We Go Together, Hopelessly Devoted to You, Grease Lightnin’, Grease Is the Word, Summer Nights and You’re the One That I Want.

Grease is directed by David Gilmore, choreographed by Arlene Phillips and produced by David Ian and Paul Nicholas, by arrangement with Robert Stigwood.
