The Grumpy Old Women return to the West End
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
JENNY Eclair returns to the West End – to the Novello Theatre – with Grumpy Old Women Live 2 – Chin Up Britain, which runs for a limited season from April 14 to June 5, 2010.
Inspired by the BBC Two series and the Grumpy Old Women Official Handbook, Grumpy Old Women Live is described as “an orgy of middle-aged mayhem”.
It includes “new grumps and handy hints” for getting through the current hard times and “Grumpometer tests” that measure grumpiness levels.
The Grumpy Old Women were last seen in the West End – at the Lyric Theatre – in 2006 when Eclair was joined by Linda Robson and Dillie Keane. This time round, she’ll be performing alongside Wendi Peters (Coronation Street‘s Cilla Battersby-Brown) and Susie Blake (Madame Morrible in Wicked and Coronation Street‘s Bev Unwin).
Grumpy Old Women Live is co-written by Judith Holder, producer of the television series, and comedian, writer and performer Jenny Eclair.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof continues at the Novello Theatre until April 10, 2010.
