Impropera - Leicester Square Theatre
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
FOLLOWING sell-out shows in 2009, the internationally acclaimed improvised opera company, Impropera, returns to Leicester Square Theatre every third Sunday of the month, improvising musical style, storylines and characters on the spot from the audience’s suggestions.
According to promotional material, Impropera draws upon ‘the playfulness and adrenalin of improvisation’ and the ‘passion and drama of opera’, to create entirely improvised operas with an anarchic, irreverent edge.
Audiences, we are told, will not only be enthralled by Impropera‘s ‘virtuoso performances’ and ‘encyclopaedic musical knowledge’, but also be able to test the company’s ability to make an opera about absolutely anything.
Dates: May 16, June 20 and July 18, 2010.
Time: 7.30pm.
Tickets: £15, £10 concessions (including students with valid ID).
