Jazz and Roots Fridays - St. James Studio
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
JAZZ and Roots Fridays is an exhilarating weekly jazz night beginning on Friday, October 12, 2012, curated by one of London’s acclaimed jazz musicians, Dorian Ford.
Ford, a charismatic pianist, is calling on his vast network of fellow talents to curate a night of diverse and brilliant acts, from singing legends to swinging bands.
Chick Corea Jazz Masters Award winner Dorian Ford trained at Berklee and WAC. His trio played throughout the UK earlier this year, from Shetland to Southampton, playing the music of Bill Evans in a tour which was supported by Arts Council England and Creative Scotland. He is also a mainstay of Carol Grimes’ band.
Ford has played residencies at Map Cafe and The Space, regularly plays at major London venues and is broadcast on Jazz FM and BBC radio.
Ford said: ‘I have asked some of my favourite singers and bands – many of whom I am lucky enough to call good friends – to contribute to this exciting series of evenings at the St. James Studio.
