Joan Collins returns to Leicester Square Theatre

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

JOAN Collins is returning to the West End’s Leicester Square Theatre with her acclaimed one woman show, Joan Collins: One Night With Joan, but for three performances only – on Friday, September 12 (7pm) and Saturday, September 13, 2014 (4pm and 7pm).

Joan Collins: One Night With Joan is described as a not-to-be-missed opportunity to spend an intimate evening in the company of a true Hollywood legend.

Joan Collins will take to the stage with honesty, style and grace and with the same engaging wit and frankness that turned her three memoirs, Past Imperfect, Second Act and Passion for Life, into international best-sellers.

Among the many confidences, she tells of the ups and downs of her career and screens rare and at times hilarious film footage from her life. It’s a chance to hear first hand about her marriages, her screen test for Cleopatra and to discover why she lost the role to Elizabeth Taylor, her first on-set encounter with the formidable Bette Davis, being broke and why and how Hollywood changed her fortune.

Other highlights of the show are outtakes and her legendary bitch-fights with Linda Evans in Dynasty. And in the second half of the evening, a question and answer session will give audience members the chance to find out what they’ve always wanted to know about her amazing life.

Joan Collins has appeared in more than 118 feature films and TV series, including creating the role of Alexis Carrington on Dynasty, one of the most highly rated television dramas of all time. She’s also guest performed in TV shows from Space 1999 to Will and Grace.

Her novels and memoirs have sold over 50 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 30 languages. She is a regular diarist for The Spectator and a contributor to The Daily Mail, The Telegraph, The Times and Harper’s Bazaar.

On stage, Joan Collins has performed on Broadway, in the West End, and in national tours in the UK and North America. She is recognised world-wide as a fashion maven of timeless beauty, and is a brand ambassador and spokeswoman for top cosmetic, health and beauty companies.

On the humanitarian front, Joan Collins is devoted to the well-being of women, children and families and regularly lends her support and celebrity to causes that include finding a cure for breast cancer and empowering children with learning disabilities.

She is married to Theatrical Manager Percy Gibson, and they live between their homes in Los Angeles, London, New York and the South of France. In 1997, she received an OBE for her lifetime contribution to the arts and her continuing charity work.

Produced by Martin Witts for Leicester Square Theatre, Joan Collins: One Night With Joan is directed by Percy Gibson and designed by Oliver Sones.
