Joseph - Lee Mead hangs up his multi-coloured coat
Story by Lizzie Guilfoyle
LEE Mead, who won the role of Joseph in BBC TV’s Any Dream Will Do, will leave Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber’s revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the end of the current booking period – on January 10, 2009.
The show opened at the Adelphi Theatre on July 17, 2007, with Mead receiving positive reviews for his performance. Since then, he has won the Variety Club prize for Outstanding New Talent and although nominated for a Whatonstage.com Award for Best Actor in a Musical, he narrowly missed out to Hairspray‘s Michael Ball.
Mead’s replacement has not yet been announced.
As well as Mead, the current cast includes Jenna Lee-James as the Narrator, Dean Collinson as Pharaoh, and Stephen Tate as Jacob/Potiphar/Guru.
NB: Mead is on holiday from July 28 to August 5, 2008.
