Journey's End - Greenwich Theatre
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
DAVID Hutchinson and Phillip Rowntree for Sell A Door Theatre Company are presenting Journey’s End at Greenwich Theatre – from February 9 to February 17, 2013.
Do you think there is no limit to what a man can bear?
Fresh out of an English Public School, Raleigh is flung into the dugouts of the First World War trenches. He joins a group of British Officers on the front line, the besieged company of his friend and cricketing hero Stanhope.
But the man he knew is not the man he sees; a living testament to the toils of war on the shoulders of the innocent.
First performed in 1928 when it starred Laurence Olivier, R. C. Sherriff’s anti-war classic was an instant hit. Its significance continues to resonate decades on.
David Hutchinson directs a cast that includes Jason Hall, Mark Middleton, Steven George, Matthew Pattimore (Raleigh), Dom Hodson, Alex Forward, James Hender, Adam Fletcher, David Alwyn (Stanhope), Matt Tring and Ant White.
Journey’s End is designed by Kemey Lafond and has lighting by Alexander Ridgers.
