Keeler - Charing Cross Theatre
FOLLOWING a highly successful UK tour, Gill Adams’ Keeler is transferring to the West End – to Charing Cross Theatre, where it runs from November 5 (previews from October 31) to December 14, 2013.
Based on the 2001 autobiography The Truth At Last by Christine Keeler with Douglas Thompson, this play written by Gill Adams, with Keeler’s sanction and involvement, reveals the sensational inside story of the infamous Profumo affair: the biggest political sex scandal to rock the British nation in the 20th century.
In 1963, the Secretary of State for war, John ‘Jack’ Profumo, was forced to resign after it was established that he had lied to the House about the nature of his relationship with a young showgirl Christine Keeler who, at the same time, was also involved with a Russian spy.
The ensuing scandal was, in part, responsible for the resignation of the Prime Minister Harold Macmillan and the suicide of the man who introduced Keeler to Profumo, Dr. Stephen Ward.
Keeler is presented by Paul Nicholas and Steven M. Levy.
Tickets: £17 – £29.50 – available from the box office on 08444 930 650 or online at www.charingcrosstheatre.co.uk/.
