LEGALLY Blonde The Musical, which only last week officially opened at the Savoy Theatre, has extended its booking period by nine months – until February 20, 2011.

Previously Posted: Final casting has been announced for Jerry Mitchell’s Legally Blonde The Musical, which begins preview performances at the Savoy Theatre on December 5, 2009.

Joining previously announced Sheridan Smith, Duncan James, Alex Gaumond, Aoife Mulholland and Susan McFadden, will be Peter Davison (as Callahan, Elle’s Harvard lecturer) and Jill Halfpenny (beautician Paulette).

In Legally Blonde, college sweetheart and homecoming queen Elle Woods (Sheridan Smith) doesn’t take no for an answer. So when her boyfriend Warner (Duncan James) dumps her for someone serious, Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and heads for Harvard Law! Along the way, she proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.

Peter Davison became a household name when he played the fifth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who between 1981 and 1984. His other extensive television credits include All Creatures Great and Small (as Tristan Farnon), The Last Detective (DC Davies), At Home with the Braithwaites, A Quick Guide to Parenting, A Very Peculiar Practice, Ain’t Misbehaving, Fear Stress and Anger, for which he won the 2007 Best Actor Award at the Monte Carlo Television Festival, Unforgiven and Midsomer Murders.

His theatre credits include King Arthur in Monty Python’s Spamalot (Palace Theatre), Chicago (Adelphi Theatre), An Absolute Turkey (Globe Theatre) and Arsenic and Old Lace (Chichester Festival Theatre).

In 2004, Jill Halfpenny won the BBC series Strictly Come Dancing with her professional partner Darren Bennett. She subsequently won the Christmas Specials in 2004 and 2008, and also performed in the 2009 Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour earlier this year.

Although she is probably best known on television as EastEnders‘s Kate Mitchell, she has also appeared in Byker Grove, Waterloo Road, Dalziel and Pascoe, Coronation Street, Peak Practice, Heartbeat, Birds of a Feather, Shameless and The Catherine Tate Show.

Her theatre credits include Uncle Vanya (Birmingham Rep), The Bodies (Live Theatre, Newcastle) and Chicago (Adelphi Theatre). She is currently starring in Calendar Girls at the Noel Coward Theatre.

The cast also includes Emma Bateman, Dan Burton, Darren Carnall, Chris Ellis-Stanton (Grandmaster Chad, Dewey, Kyle), Nadine Higgin, Ibinabo Jack, Caroline Keiff, Amy Lennox, Andy Mace, Sorelle Marsh, Suzie McAdam, Matthew McKenna, Sean Mulligan, Roxanne Palmer, Sergio Priftis, Tamara Wall and Ed White.

They are joined by Jane McMurtrie, Sherrie Pennington, Lucy Miller, Fabian Aloise and Francis Haugen as swings.

Legally Blonde is currently booking until May 23, 2010.
