Leicester Square Theatre - December 2012

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

AS WELL AS Dick!, the strictly adult panto, Leicester Square Theatre is once again playing host to the children’s show Stick Man Live on Stage.

Based on the best-selling book written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler (The Gruffalo), Stick Man runs in the Main House for a limited season – from November 21, 2012 to January 6, 2013.

Described as touching, funny and utterly original, Stick Man follows the adventures of a misunderstood stick man. One day whilst out for a jog, he is pounced on by a playful dog. Mistaken for an ordinary stick, he is swept far away and used for all sorts of things: from a flag mast to a cricket bat, a snowman’s arm to firewood (well almost!).

As his adventure unfolds season by season, Stick Man is lost and alone and wondering if he will ever get back to the family tree? However, his adventure culminates in a special festive celebration – with an appearance by a certain portly gentleman dressed in red and white!

Tickets: £14.50 full adult, £12.50 child/concession, £45 family ticket – available from the box office on 08448 733433 or online at

Meanwhile, Cinderella (in The Lounge from December 10 to December 30) is an antidote to the usual Christmas pantomime.

Blind Tiger’s inaugural ‘Anti Panto’ features a whole host of dark and disturbing characters in one of the most famous fairy-tales in history – the way it was originally intended!

Tickets: £13 – £9.
