Lion and Unicorn Theatre - August 2012

A Brief History Of Timelessness

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

DURING AUGUST, the Lion and Unicorn Theatre is presenting A Brief History Of Timelessness and Lucky You.

A Brief History Of Timelessness, featuring Matt Welcome – August 1 to August 13.

‘Time’ is the number one noun in the world, and yet there seems to be great confusion and disagreement as to what it might be, or whether it even exists.

Albert Einstein thought Time might be a ‘Persistent illusion’, but did not explain how. In these live talks Matt Welcome uses his stand-up comedy experience to present an engaging talk that wraps this question up completely, and proves that Time does not exist at all!

This is far easier said than done, because while many people may be quick to agree that ‘Time is just a man made idea’, they may not have considered everything that Time is meant to be.

To show how the universe really is Timeless, these talks fully re-explain why we think we can see the Past but not see the Future, and just what these ‘things’ really are. What our ‘memories’ really prove, and what they don’t prove. What it really means to be late, or early, and how we can age and die, all without Time. Why the experts may mistakenly assume that Time Travel is possible, and has even happened, and how Einstein’s famous theory of Relativity is both right and wrong.

The show concludes by explaining just what Timelessness means to our personal, daily, lives and with a chance to ask any questions you can think of about Time or Timelessness.

Tickets: £10/£8 – available from the box office on 08444 77 1000 or at www.ticketweb.co.uk.

Time: 7.30pm, except August 12 at 9pm.

Lucky You

Lucky You, a new comedy written by David Bourn and Alasdair Buddington – selected dates from August 7 to August 26.

Richard (Felix Dexter) is a good man in a harsh and unpredictable world. Despite always trying to do the right thing he has had more than his fair share of setbacks – in fact he has his share, my share and your share too. Yet things seem to be on the up – he saves someone’s life, a promotion looms and he has a plan to win back his soul mate. Can things be about to go his way for once?

Lucky You is described as an old fashioned, character based story of the underdog continuing to strive to succeed even when the odds are stacked against him.

Felix Dexter is an award-winning comedian, writer and actor. His TV credits include The Real Mc Coy, The Fast Show, Have I Got News For You, Grumpy Old Men and Absolutely Fabulous.
