Lion and Unicorn Theatre presents Macbeth

Macbeth

Theatre preview

THE LION and Unicorn Theatre is presenting Macbeth by William Shakespeare, from Tuesday, July 16 to Saturday, August 3, 2013.

Set against the backdrop of a war-torn country to which the men mysteriously never returned, the women were convinced that they could prosper on their own.

Macbeth and her cohorts now find themselves confronted with temptation from dubious sources, and begin to question the organically-formed hierarchy of their self-created world where Womankind leads. Power corrupts. Strength weakens.

The cast includes Mark Rush, Hendrik Elstein, Alexander Allin, Olga Leon, Lucy McCabe, Rosie Secker, Natalie Barclay, Natasha Brown, Freya Alderson, Briony Rawle, Kirtsen Moore, Pernilla Holland, Charlie Ryall and Hannah Cheetham.

Macbeth is produced by Wyrd Sister’s Theatre, which was set up in 2013 by Freya Alderson and Charlie Ryall. The company specialises in re-tellings of classic plays with a predominantly female cast and crew.

Fight Director for Macbeth is Simba Masaku.

Tickets: £15/£12 – available from the box office on 08444 77 1000 or from Ticketweb.

Times: Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm, Saturday matinee at 3.30pm.
