Lot and His God - The Print Room

Lot and His God

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

LOT and His God, by controversial playwright Howard Barker (Scenes from an Execution), will receive its UK premiere at The Print Room, where it runs from November 3 to November 24, 2012.

Described as a powerful and imaginative play, Lot and His God exposes the human truth behind the biblical legend of the story of Lot and is set the day before the city of Sodom is completely annihilated.

Among the grimy tables of a run-down café, an angel meets Lot and his wife and tells them that God wants them to flee before the city is obliterated. However, Lot’s irresistible wife has other ideas.

As the angel and Lot’s wife embark on a dangerous game of seduction, cruelty and desire, audiences are drawn ever deeper into the dark and impenetrable forest that is the marriage between Lot and the bewitching woman he worships.

Directed by Robyn Winfield-Smith and designed by Fotini Dimou, Lot and His God has lighting by Peter Mumford and sound by Gregory Clarke. Casting has yet to be announced.
