Love Never Dies - further casting announced

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

Liz Robertson (as Madame Giry), Joseph Millson (Raoul) and Summer Strallen (Meg Giry) will join Sierra Boggess and Ramin Karimloo in the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new musical Love Never Dies, which opens at the Adelphi Theatre on March 9, 2010 (previews from February 20).

Ten years after he mysteriously disappeared from his lair beneath the Paris Opera House, The Phantom (Karimloo) is haunting the fairgrounds of New York’s Coney Island. However, he still cannot forget his one true love, the singer Christine Daaé (Boggess), and sets out to prove by whatever means that – Love Never Dies.

Robertson is certainly no stranger to Gaston Leroux’ Phantom, having already played Madame Giry in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty’s Theatre. Her other London theatre credits include My Fair Lady for which she received an Olivier Award nomination, Killing Jessica, Song and Dance, Kern Goes to Hollywood and The Music Man. She is currently starring as Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

Millson’s theatre credits include Every Good Boy Deserves Favour and Pillars of the Community (National Theatre); Fear and Misery (Royal Court Theatre); Cinderella (Old Vic); numerous productions for the Royal Shakespeare Company including Much Ado About Nothing, King John and The God in the Manger; Judgment Day (Almeida Theatre); and the forthcoming The Priory (Royal Court Theatre).

On screen, Millson is best known as Sam Morgan in Peak Practice and Jason James in EastEnders. His other screen credits include Ashes to Ashes, Survivors, New Tricks, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Casino Royale and Telstar.

Strallen has most recently appeared on stage in The Sound of Music (London Palladium); The Drowsy Chaperone (Novello Theatre); Regent’s Park’s Open Air Theatre production of The Boyfriend for which she received a 2007 Olivier nomination for Best Actress in a Musical; and the Barbican’s production of Dick Whittington (title role).

Her other theatre credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Guys and Dolls, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Cats, Fosse and Scrooge.

Love Never Dies is currently booking until October 23, 2010.
