Make Better Please

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

THE UK premiere production of Make Better Please will visit Battersea Arts Centre (May 1 to May 12, 2012) as part of a national tour.

Part town hall meeting, part radio broadca st and part protest, Make Better Please invites audiences to participate in a unique theatrical exorcism.

Drawing material from the day’s newspapers, the company and the audience form a collective ministry, channelling the spirits of corporate fat cats, cabinet ministers and media tycoons, before banishing them forever in a riotous display of dance, music and rage.

Presented by Fuel, Make Better Please is devised and performed by Uninvited Guests – Richard Dufty, Jessica Hoffman and Paul Clarke.

With an approach to theatre making that embraces the live experience with a visceral, direct and sometimes intimate audience relationship, Uninvited Guests’ recent work includes the widely celebrated Love Letters Straight From Your Heart, an interactive celebration of love composed of dedications written by the audience, interspersed with songs they have chosen, and the 2007 Herald Angel Award-winning It Is Like It Ought To Be: A Pastoral.

Uninvited Guests’ previous projects include Guest House, Film, Offline, Live Chat, Schlock and Aftermath. They were recently commissioned by Tate Britain to create a son et lumière to accompany The Last Judgement, an exhibition of paintings by John Martin.

Fuel produces the work of artists including Fevered Sleep (On Ageing), Sound&Fury (Kursk), David Rosenberg (Electric Hotel), Will Adamsdale (Jackson’s Way, The Summer House) and Clod Ensemble (An Anatomie in Four Quarters).
