Make Me A Song - Sally Ann Triplett joins cast

SALLY ANN Triplett is joining the cast of Make Me A Song which opens at the New Players Theatre on March 6, 2008 (previews from March 3).
Triplett’s theatre credits include Chicago (as Roxie Hart), Acorn Antiques (as Miss Berta), Anything Goes (as Reno Sweeney) and Oliver! (as Nancy). More recently, she starred in Guys and Dolls (Piccadilly Theatre) and Take Flight (Menier Chocolate Factory).
Previously Posted: The Off-Broadway hit Make Me A Song which celebrates the songs of William Finn, one of the most acclaimed composer-lyricists currently writing for musical theatre, receives its UK premiere at the New Players Theatre, where it runs from March 3 to April 6, 2008.
Make Me A Song, which is described as big, boisterous and life-loving, features classics from Falsettos, the 1992 groundbreaking musical that won Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score; the Tony-nominated The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Finn’s latest Broadway musical; Romance in Hard Times; Elegies and the yet-to-be-produced The Royal Family.
Andrew McBean directs a cast that includes Louise Dearman, Frances Ruffelle, Gareth Snook, Simon Thomas and Ian H Watkins.
Dearman’s credits include Whistle Down the Wind (as the girl), Grease, Jekyll and Hyde (as Lucy) and, most recently, the West End production of Guys and Dolls (as Sarah Brown).
Ruffelle created the role of Eponine in Les Miserables both in the West End and on Broadway, for which she won the Tony, the Helen Hayes, Theatreworld and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Actress. Her other West End credits include The Prince and the Showgirl with Omar Sharif, Starlight Express (as Dinah) and Children of Eden (as Yonah). She recently returned to play Chicago‘s Roxie Hart for a third season.
Snook’s theatre credits include Assassins (as Lee Harvey Oswald) and Company (as Peter), both directed by Sam Mendes at the Donmar Warehouse; Aspects of Love (as Alex) at the Prince of Wales Theatre; and Sunset Boulevard in which he created the role of Artie Green.
Thomas’ credits include Howard Goodall’s Days of Hope (King’s Head Theatre), the RSC’s Merry Wives of Windsor, Bad Girls The Musical and the forthcoming musical Marguerite, which opens at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket on May 20 (previews from May 6).
Ian H Watkins was a member of pop group Steps. In seven years of success, the group released five albums and 19 singles, including four UK No 1’s, sold 15 million records and 2 million concert tickets. Watkins has since starred in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Fame, both in the West End.
Over a period of 14 years, in the West End and in New York, McBean was Trevor Nunn’s resident and associate director of Aspects of Love, Sunset Boulevard and Anything Goes. He recently directed the 50th anniversary production of West Side Story, the first new adaptation and restaging in its history. The production boasted a West End cast and was featured at the Cyprus Festival 2007.
Make Me A Song was conceived by Rob Ruggiero and is designed by Ben M Rogers. Musical Director is Matt Brind. It is presented in the West End by Junkyard Dog Productions, Demos Bizar Entertainment and Surefire Theatrical in association with Larry Hirschhorn, Remmel T Dickinson, Jayson Raitt and Mariano Tolentino, Jr.
