Merrily We Roll Along transfers to the W/E
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
FOLLOWING a sell-out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory, Stephen Sondheim and George Furth’s Merrily We Roll Along will transfer to the West End – to the Harold Pinter Theatre where it runs from April 23 to July 27, 2013.
Based on the play by Kaufman and Hart, Merrily We Roll Along charts the relationship between three friends – Franklin, Charley and Mary – over three decades in the entertainment business.
A moving story, it features some of Sondheim’s most beautiful songs, such as Good Thing Going, Not a Day Goes By and Old Friends.
Triple Olivier award-winner Maria Friedman, making her directorial debut, directs a cast that includes Damian Humbley, Jenna Russell, Mark Umbers, Josefina Gabrielle, Clare Foster and Glyn Kerslake.
In 1992, Maria Friedman starred in a production of Merrily We Roll Along at the Leicester Haymarket.
Old Times, with Kristin Scott Thomas, Lia Williams and Rufus Sewell, continues at the Harold Pinter Theatre until April 6, 2013.
