Million Dollar Quartet posts closing notices
DESPITE extending its run earlier this year, Million Dollar Quartet has posted closing notices at the Noel Coward Theatre. Its final performance will now be on January 14, 2012.
In a statement, the show’s producers said:
“We’ve enjoyed a fantastic year in the West End and audiences have been amazing. The musical has been seen by over 200,000 people, played over 250 performances and grossed in excess of £5 million at the box office. We’d like to thank our cast of extraordinarily talented actors and musicians as well as the great company and crew who have all helped raise the roof of the Noël Coward Theatre night after night.”
The current cast includes Oliver Seymour-Marsh (as Carl Perkins), Bill Ward (Sam Phillips), Ben Goddard (Jerry Lee Lewis), Derek Hagen (Johnny Cash), Francesca Jackson (Dyanne) and Michael Malarkey (Elvis Presley).

Joining previously announced Bill Ward as legendary music producer Sam Phillips will be Ben Goddard (Jerry Lee Lewis), Derek Hagen (Johnny Cash), Francesca Jackson (Dyanne), Robert Britton Lyons (Carl Perkins) and Michael Malarkey (Elvis Presley).
Although open auditions were held to cast the roles of the four famous musicians, none of the principals are complete newcomers.
Goddard appeared in Craig Revel Horwood’s Olivier Award-winning Sunset Boulevard (Comedy Theatre); Hagen in Rupert Goold’s award-winning Enron and the West End musicals Gone with the Wind and Carousel; and Malarky in Beyond The Horizon and Spring Storm (both at the National Theatre).
However, American actor Britton Lyons, who created the role of Carl Perkins in the Broadway production of Million Dollar Quartet, will be making his London stage debut.
A finalist in BBC’s I’d Do Anything, Francesca Jackson’s stage credits include A Little Night Music (Le Théâtre du Châtelet, Paris), Dreamboats and Petticoats (West End and on tour), and Can’t Smile Without You and Tonight’s The Night (on tour).
The remaining cast members will be: Justin Brett (Alternate Johnny Cash), Matthew Empson (Jerry Lee Lewis at certain performances), Gez Gerrard (Jay Perkins), Kevin Mains (Elvis Presley at certain performances), Adam Riley (Fluke) and Oliver Seymour-Marsh (Carl Perkins at certain performances).
Sharon Clancy will understudy the role of Dyanne and Steven Bor will cover the role of Carl Perkins.
Million Dollar Quartet recounts the night in 1956 when Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis came together to make music and ended up making history.
