Mixed Up North - Wilton's Music Hall
Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle
OUT OF Joint and the Octagon Theatre Bolton are presenting Robin Soans’ Mixed Up North at Wilton’s Music Hall – from November 12 (previews from November 10) to December 5, 2009.
Based on real events, Mixed Up North is described as a fiercely funny and moving play about attempts to unite divided ethnic communities in the Lancashire mill town of Burnley.
Trish leads a youth theatre group designed to bring Asian and White teenagers together. As she struggles to share her artistic vision with a cast who think acting is “gay”, the compelling stories of the young stars unfold.
Max Stafford-Clark directs a cast that includes Judith Amsenga and Celia Imrie (at certain performances), Lisa Kerr, Kashif Khan, Asif Khan, Muzz Khan, Rose Leslie, Tyrone Lopez, Kathryn O’Reilly, Claire Rafferty, Mia Souteriou, Lorna Stewart, Matthew Wait and Stephanie Street .
Mixed Up North is designed by Jonathan Fensom, with lighting by Tim Bray and sound by Andy Smith.
A touring production, Mixed Up North will also visit Bolton, Northampton, Leicester, Southampton, Clitheroe, Lancaster and Liverpool prior to its London run.
