Naked Boys Singing and F***ing Men transfer to W/E

Preview by Lizzie Guilfoyle

NEXT month, the King’s Head Theatre’s two hit shows – Naked Boys Singing and F—-ing Men will transfer to the West End’s Arts Theatre. Preview performances begin on July 7, with concecutive press nights on July 9 and July 10, 2009.

A long-running New York hit, Naked Boys Singing was first seen in London at Soho’s Madame JoJo’s in 2001. However, the new production has been specially reshaped for London audiences by director Phil Willmott.

A 65-minute musical comedy revue, it celebrates the glories of the male body and features songs by 13 writers sung by seven nude actors. And they are Stephen Butler, Duncan Leighton, David Lucas, Adam Mendlesohn, Matthew Russell-Jones, Nathan Taylor and Joe Van Haeften.

Naked Boys Singing is choreographed by Andrew Wright, with musical direction by Elliot Davis.

Joe DiPietro’s F***ing Men, a contemporary take on Schnitzler’s La Ronde, is described as a fearless dissection and shameless celebration of homosexuality that will fascinate male and female audiences of every persuasion.

Set in today’s America, this insightful drama looks at a succession of couples and strangers as they negotiate the before and after of lust, love and betrayal and the pursuit of gay sex. Some stories are poignant, some hilarious, but collectively they provide a fascinating snap shot of the American male in pursuit of man-on-man action.

The cast includes Stewart Alexander, Stephen Billington, Scott Capurro, Matthew Clancy, Dan Ford, James Kristian, Timothy Lone, Shai Matheson, Patrick Poletti, Chris Polick and Adam Unze. Once again Phil Willmott directs.

F***ing Men was staged at Finborough Theatre in May 2008.

Both productions continue at the King’s Head Theatre until July 5, 2009.
